Looking up WhoIs information reveal “who is” the owner of a domain name. This is especially good news given the recent front-running of Network Solutions (in a nutshell – if you look to see if a domain name is available on Network Solutions, they quickly register it so that you have to buy the domain from them at a ridiculously high price).

Simply type “whois” in the search field in Google, followed by a space, then the domain name in question. So for example, “whois Google.com”.
